Over time, the element of wind combined with sand creates the radiant rose clusters of gypsum or barite crystals. Alternatively known as Sahara rose, it is found primarily throughout the arid climate regions of North Africa and the Middle East. Additionally, the mineral has been discovered  in the Chihuahuan  Region of Mexico which stretches north into the American Southwest. Thus, it has been considered a spiritual stone by the indigenous peoples of this area for centuries.
