The Herkimer Diamond Mines, Inc. are located about 40 miles north of Cooperstown, New York which is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. This historic land once belonged to the notorious Mohawk Nation. The mines are named after the Herkimer family, who migrated from Germany to the location in the early part of the 18^th Century. In what was once a shallow body of water, they discovered a nearly 500 million year old composite of clear quartz, amethyst, pyrite and other natural materials which had formed into diamond-like minerals. Thus, the crystals were perfectly named diamond druze.  While these gemstones transmit a very high vibration of energy, they are tempered by the serenity and tranquility of amethyst. The crystals are believed to offer celestial connection and promote body, mind and soul awakening. Strongly aligned with the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, they are akin to the April birthstone.
